During the pandemic year 2021 in which all convivial and social activities were limited by the restrictions due to Covid, ALMA decided to embark on a "journey" with Ascanio Celestini. A dialogue formed by questions and answers was established in which an attempt was made to investigate the various facets that the hypothetical life of any man can have. The 2021 edition of the Residenza al.BAR.co aims to create drawings that come from the study of these texts. Subsequently texts and drawings will compose a book. 10 young contemporary artists were chosen who in different years were trained at the School of the Book of Urbino and who are represented by the association ALMA (Associazione Libera Marchigiana Animatori).

Urbino, 21st of March 2020

SPRING OF BEAUTY

ALMA, Associazione Libera Marchigiana Animatori (Free Association of Animators from the Marches, Italy), is born.

ALMA has been founded by Sandro Pascucci, Elisa Mossa, Magda Guidi, Stefano Franceschetti, Simone Massi and brings together animators and illustrators from the Marches (or who studied in the Marches) who graduated from Scuola del Libro in Urbino during the time.

"Beginning with the name - beautiful!- the Scuola del Libro of  Urbino let us notice how “different” it is. Not less demanding or compliant. Quite the opposite. Just thinking about how many relevant artists have been schooled on those desks and between those walls is enough: how many other institutes designated to educate new generations can show up a curriculum like this? Now a group of these artists, alongside their lecturers, reunites in an association of volunteers with the ambition to support and enhance the practice of  animation and illustration. Friends, friends, I’m with you!"

Alberto Barbera

Art Director of the Venice International Film Festival

ROBERTO CATANI'S STUDIO HAS MOVED WITH US (THANKS ROBERTO)

"Thanks for the honour of being friend of the new association of  animation artists ALMA. I’m sure that this association of people with similar talents will be an influential organization in the italian animation and illustration field, a creator of ideas and initiatives to provide more decent work conditions for the artists, as well as to spread this art’s influence to an extended audience.

The creative potential of the graduates and lecturers from the Scuola del Libro of Urbino will be a guarantee.Good luck to all of us for this excellent challenge!"

ELISA MOSSA AND ALESSANDRA ROMAGNOLI AT WORK

"I am with you and I think that your ALMA association is an excellent idea to support the Scuola del Libro of  Urbino, a source of talent, as for the art of animation, the animators’ interests, of the illustrators and you will succeed. My best wishes."

GIORGIA BASILI, DRAWING FOR THE POSTER OF INTERNATIONAL PESARO FILM FEST 2019

"Dear Simone and partners, of course I want to be a friend of  ALMA association! A nice and noble idea. Italy is the land of the arts, and will continue to astonish the world. It’s from my apartment, where I work, like many others, that I wish all the warmest best to all of you. There will come a day when  we’ll exchange our films - plants, flowers, that we cultivated during the time of cholera…"

MARA CERRI, DRAWING FOR THE POSTER OF RICCIONE TTV FESTIVAL 2018

"I’m glad to be a friend of your ALMA association. I love Italy, my favourite country in the world, and I love italian animation which is one of my world’s favourite cinematography. The continuous transformation movement developed by Italians is a unique language, it’s like the visual and poetic translation of that line of thoughts when we stay alone to reflect about our intimate things. The origin of this unique expression, poetic language and movement, is clearly identifiable and identified: the Scuola del Libro of Urbino."
